Bless Me, Spider

For I am sorry to have washed you away
from your home, under-and-inside
the primitive clay statue of Gaia who watched
over Her bounty this past growing season.

You rode the garden hose’s gentle spray
tumbling upon slick lawn to October sun.
Tiny speck of wisdom, you paused
a mere second, perhaps to gather yourself,
then scurried out of sight in matted grass.

Mindful of my feet, I spooled up the hose,
hoisted the sculpture and removed myself.
May you slip into another snug abode
with ease… Godspeed.
